Fiscal Training for Local Government Elected Officials
LGC staff has developed fiscal training for local government board members on some of the key aspects of the Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act. Although this training is useful for anyone involved in a local government or public authority in North Carolina, it has been specifically developed for elected officials.
The Training
Board members should understand the statutory requirements of the Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act (LGBFCA) and make sure they are being followed in their local governments. This training will help with both.
The training is divided into 8 modules. You can complete the training all at once or over time, going through the modules as your schedule permits. You can also refer to it as a refresher and only go through specific sections that you have questions about.
The Quizzes
At the end of each module are several quiz questions touching on the key points presented in the module. A link to an online quiz to submit your answers is provided next to each module in the table below.
You have a few choices regarding the quizzes –
First, if your local government is operating under a Fiscal Accountability Agreement with LGC staff, you will need to take all of the quizzes in order to get credit for the modules and fulfill your unit’s board training requirement goal. Please remember that you’ll need to click on the quiz link and complete the quiz in order to get credit.
Second, if you are taking this training to help you better understand fiscal matters and your responsibilities, thank you! We’d be happy to provide you with a certificate of completion if you take and complete all 8 quizzes available below.
Finally, if you’re just taking this training to refresh your understanding or learn more about specific topics, feel free to use the quiz questions as a way to review the key topics presented in a module. There’s no need to take and submit the online quizzes.
