It was with great sadness this weekend that I learned of Sen. Tillman’s passing. As a fellow “Randolphian,” we used to always say that the Randleman Reservoir got built 100 years ago when a Tillman and a Folwell were walking through that property and one of them dropped a quarter. They dug and dug looking for it! I went and met with Jerry last week and he finally agreed to arm wrestle me – left-handed!
During his almost 20 years of service to the state and his constituents in Randolph and Guilford counties he was always a strong advocate for his district. He was a key supporter of the state health and retirement plans and cared deeply about those that teach, protect and serve the people of North Carolina. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
