Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic Joins NC State Health Plan Network

Wake County Medical Practice has 23 Physicians, 100 Years of Experience

(Raleigh, N.C.) – State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, and the State Health Plan (Plan) announced today that Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic has signed a contract to join the North Carolina State Health Plan Network. Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic is Wake County's oldest orthopaedic practice, dating back to 1919.

Raleigh Orthopaedic has 20 board certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons with advanced training in foot and ankle surgery, hand, wrist and elbow surgery, neck and spine surgery, hip surgery, shoulder surgery, total joint replacement, and sports medicine. Raleigh Orthopaedic has clinic locations in Raleigh, Cary, Garner, and Holly Springs. Together, clinic physicians have more than 200 years of combined experience.

“We are thrilled that Raleigh Orthopaedic has joined our new North Carolina State Health Plan Network," said Folwell. “The clinic's 100 years of dedicated experience to the Wake County area brings high-quality care to serve our active and retired state employees."

The North Carolina State Health Plan Network is the result of the Clear Pricing Project (CPP) announced last year. Under CPP, the Plan will move away from a commercial-based payment model to a reference-based, transparent pricing model tied to Medicare rates. Health care providers will be reimbursed for their services at Medicare rates plus an average of 82 percent. Plan members will save almost $60 million.

“Partnering with the North Carolina State Health Plan Network was an easy decision by Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic, who wants to ensure that our educators, former lawmakers, state and community college personnel and retirees still have access to the highest quality orthopaedic care in the Triangle and surrounding regions of central North Carolina," stated Brian Bizub, Chief Executive Officer.

Providers should visit https://www.bluecrossnc.com/provider-home for more information. Plan members can find more information regarding the Clear Pricing Project at www.shpnc.org.

The State Health Plan, a division of the N.C. Department of State Treasurer, provides health care coverage to more than 727,000 teachers, current and former lawmakers, state university and community college personnel, active and retired state employees, and their dependents.
