Several community colleges across the State are offering ACC 3240 Local Government Finance - A Practical Approach. This course was developed by LGC staff in conjunction with experienced finance staff from local governments in NC. The focus of the course is the day-to-day operations of a finance office, but it also includes modules on budgeting, purchasing, and debt financing as well. Many new finance staff members have found the course to be helpful in managing their responsibilities. Non-finance department heads that have taken the course have a new appreciation for what is required of local government in NC with regards to finance, accounting, and cash management.
