Information on the Town of Eureka, North Carolina

NC map with counties Wayne.png

North Carolina Session Law 2019-29 suspended the charter of the Town of Eureka and placed all monies and assets of the town under the control of the State Treasurer. Information on this page is intended to keep the citizens of Eureka and the general public informed about the town's finances and other developments.

Emergency Grant for Sewer Operations

North Carolina Session Law 2019-226 authorized the Department of Environmental Quality to provide grants to the Local Government Commission (LGC) on behalf of certain local governments to cover deficits in the operating expenses of a public water or wastewater system. Units of local government are eligible for emergency grants only if the General Assembly has suspended their charter or if the LGC has assumed control of their financial affairs.

Under this new law, the State Water Infrastructure Authority approved $200,000 in emergency funding for Eureka on September 25, 2019.

Financial and Budget Information

Please note that the tax rate for 2019-2020 is 75 cents per hundred, not 70 cents per hundred as presented at the September 3, 2019 meeting in Eureka.  The rate of 75 cents per hundred is the same rate as the prior year and does not represent an increase; the rate was simply reported incorrectly in the materials and presentation on September 3.  All documents below have been updated to correct the rate to 75 cents.  We apologize for any confusion; feel free to contact Sharon Edmundson at the email address below if there are further questions.
