State Treasurer Brad Briner Welcomes Andrew Hoffmann as Investment Director

Andrew Hoffmann has been hired as Investment Director for the Department of State Treasurer’s Investment Management Division, State Treasurer Brad Briner announced today. 

“Andy will serve a critical role as we continue to rebalance assets in the North Carolina Retirement Systems to better align with long-term investment objectives, including eliminating our pension deficits,” Treasurer Briner said.  

In this newly created role, Hoffmann will source, structure and monitor a variety of real assets, including direct investments, co-investments, and secondaries. He will report to Chief Investment Officer Kevin SigRist.  

Hoffmann has over 30 years of investment expertise in real assets, with a specific emphasis on energy and utilities, infrastructure, agriculture, and water. He has held senior positions with some of the largest financial institutions in New York, Asia and Europe, including PIMCO, Brookfield, JP Morgan, and Merrill Lynch, and has executed direct investment transactions in over a dozen countries. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and political science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
