Kansas City, Mo. – Raleigh, N.C.—The Department of State Treasurer announced today that Allen Martin, Business Manager for the Unclaimed Property Division, as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA). Martin was honored with the award for his numerous contributions and dedication to the Unclaimed Property Program as well as his leadership within NAUPA.
“Allen Martin has been an integral member of our team that has modernized the Unclaimed Property Division,” said State Treasurer Janet Cowell. “This award is well deserved for all of the tireless work and commitment that Allen has dedicated to public service through reuniting North Carolinians with their unclaimed property.”
The NAUPA Lifetime Achievement Award was presented at the National Association of State Treasurer’s Treasury Management Training Symposium in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Unclaimed Property Division of the N.C. Department of State Treasurer returned more than $59 million in unclaimed cash in Fiscal Year 2014. Unclaimed property consists of bank accounts, wages, utility deposits, stocks, bonds and other property types that have been abandoned due to a loss of communication or oversight.
