TCREW award presented to individual whose vision and execution generates economic growth

RALEIGH, NC - Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women (TCREW) recognized State Treasurer Janet Cowell at the annual Champion Awards Luncheon today. Cowell received the Economic Leadership Award which is presented to an individual whose vision and execution generates economic growth or positive media attention for the Triangle.

“I am honored to receive this award,” stated Cowell. “As State Treasurer, I recognize the importance of economic development and innovation in building and maintaining a financially strong North Carolina. This recognition from TCREW means that we are doing our part to create partnerships and leverage resources that will benefit our state and its citizens.”

Cowell received the award for her leadership and creativity in helping fund innovation that has a state-wide impact. TCREW noted Cowell’s creation of the $230 million NC Innovation Fund as a key reason for the recognition. The Innovation Fund upholds the Treasurer’s fiduciary responsibility of achieving a competitive market rate return for the pension fund and commits money to investment opportunities in North Carolina.

The luncheon honored men and women in several categories including development, redevelopment, land use, financing, marketing, property management, and administrative services.
