Appointment-only Policy and Visitor Directions
If you have questions about your retirement benefits, make an appointment with one of our benefits counselors. It is helpful if you are within a year of your retirement, as that will allow us to give you the most accurate assessment of your retirement benefits. We also ask that you have requested and received a retirement estimate.  Please use Form 309 to make this request. You can expect to receive the estimate in approximately 8-10 weeks.
To make an appointment, please call 1-877-627-3287 (toll-free) or 919-807-3050 (Raleigh area). Our office is located on the 4th floor of the Albemarle Building at 325 N Salisbury Street in Raleigh, NC. If you are coming from outside the Raleigh area, here are directions to our office. You can also see our street directions map to help you navigate the downtown Raleigh area.  Please note: The parking garage beside the Albemarle Building charges a fee.
If you are unable to travel to Raleigh for an appointment, but would like more information about the retirement benefits provided to you, we also offer Retirement Planning Conferences in various locations across the state throughout the year. Check the current schedule to find a conference near you.

 We’re Moving!

To serve our members better, the N.C. Retirement Systems Division will be moving in phases this summer. Most personnel will be in place beginning mid-July at our new address: 3200 Atlantic Avenue, Raleigh, NC. If you have scheduled an appointment to meet with a Retirement Systems Division counselor, please call ahead to 877-NCSECURE (877-627-3287) to confirm the time, location and directions to your appointment.

 Fraud, Waste & Abuse

The North Carolina Retirement Systems has created a Fraud and Abuse Hotline that allows citizens to report potentially fraudulent behavior by members, benefit recipients and employers in the Retirement Systems.

You may contact the Retirement Systems’ Fraud and Abuse Office anonymously by phone or email, or you can leave a contact name and phone number in case we need to gather more data.

While the report of fraud and abuse is anonymous, Retirement Systems staff needs as much information as possible to begin an investigation, such as:

  • Name, address and any phone number(s) of the alleged
  • Name of agency or entity for which the violator works (if applicable)
  • Detailed explanation of the alleged violation and relevant dates of observation

Report Retirement Systems fraud now to one of the following:

1-855-90FRAUD (1-855-903-7283)
1-919-807-4945 (Raleigh area)
